S355J0WP Weathering Sheet and Plate
S355J0WP is identified by material number 1.8945. The P denotes the higher-phosphorus class within the S355 weathering-steel family, distinguishing it from S355J0W.
For a fabricated panel or exposed component, the grade provides a material basis for both engineering and weathering appearance. It does not describe a coating, pre-rusted finish or a finished cladding system.
S355J0WP Flat-Product Dimensions
EN 10025-5:2019 limits the S355J0WP flat-product scope to 12 mm nominal thickness. ASC quotes sheet and plate dimensions within the applicable material requirements, with thickness, width and length confirmed for the order.
The mechanical reference covers 3–12 mm sheet/strip. Material below 3 mm has different tensile requirements and is not covered by that reference.
S355J0WP for Architectural and Fabricated Components
Architectural fabricators can use specified S355J0WP flat stock in screens, facade elements and exposed features where the component design and environment suit weathering steel. Formed and welded components require the appropriate delivery condition and fabrication procedure.
Structural and general fabrication buyers may specify the grade for designed plate or sheet components. Its 12 mm flat-product scope makes it a different purchasing requirement from heavier W-grade plate.
S355J0WP Plate and Sheet Supplier, Exporter and Stockist
ASC exports internationally and welcomes S355J0WP enquiries from fabricators and distributors in the UK and Europe, as well as USA buyers working to EN specifications. Plate and sheet requirements are quoted to the requested dimensions and delivery condition.
We specialize in fast delivery and prioritize urgent requirements. The schedule depends on dimensions, quantity, availability and destination. Bundles or wooden boxes can be selected to suit the flat products and order.

The phosphorus range is a defining distinction of the WP material. The selected heat-analysis limits below also show its carbon, copper, chromium and other specified alloy content.
| Element | Limit |
|---|---|
| Carbon, C | ≤ 0.12 |
| Silicon, Si | ≤ 0.75 |
| Manganese, Mn | ≤ 1.00 |
| Phosphorus, P | 0.06–0.15 |
| Sulfur, S | ≤ 0.035 |
| Chromium, Cr | 0.30–1.25 |
| Copper, Cu | 0.25–0.55 |
| Nickel, Ni | ≤ 0.65 |
Selected elements only; the full composition and deoxidation provisions remain part of the specified standard. Heat-analysis limits differ from product-analysis tolerances.

S355J0WP Strength Requirements
Within the stated 3–12 mm reference, the minimum yield strength is 355 MPa and tensile strength is 470–630 MPa. These material-test requirements support engineering selection; they do not replace the design of a panel, support or connection.
| Nominal thickness, mm | Yield strength, minimum MPa | Tensile strength, MPa |
|---|---|---|
| 3–12 inclusive | 355 | 470–630 |
Reference for hot-rolled sheet/strip at least 600 mm wide, with transverse tensile testing. Values apply only to the stated thickness bands and are not actual heat-test results.

J0 Impact Quality and Material Condition
J0 identifies the 0°C impact quality, with a 27 J longitudinal Charpy-V reference. For S355 WP grades, impact verification is included when specified with the order. Products below 6 mm do not require impact testing under the standard; specimen-size and acceptance rules apply.
Delivery conditions can be designated +AR, +N or +M. The chosen condition affects the planned fabrication and subsequent heat treatment, and is agreed for the supplied material.
Weathered Appearance and Fabrication
The surface develops naturally as it is exposed. Colour and texture vary with the environment and time, so weathering steel should not be expected to behave like a uniform factory-applied paint finish.
Drying and drainage are essential to protective weathering. Persistent wet areas, debris traps and significant chloride exposure need particular consideration. Welding and forming must suit the actual grade and thickness, with run-off directed away from stain-sensitive surfaces.
Documents and Inspection for S355J0WP Supply
Mill test certificates and additional inspection can be requested. Where impact-test verification is required, it forms part of the agreed material and testing scope. The supplied delivery condition and reported heat results are recorded in the applicable documents.
S355J0WP Plate and Sheet FAQs
What is S355J0WP steel?
S355J0WP is a phosphorus-alloyed weathering-steel grade under EN 10025-5, identified by material number 1.8945. It covers hot-rolled flat products within its specified thickness scope.
What does the P in S355J0WP mean?
It identifies the class with a greater specified phosphorus content. S355J0WP and S355J0W therefore have different chemical requirements.
What is the maximum thickness in the standard scope?
EN 10025-5:2019 covers S355J0WP flat products up to 12 mm nominal thickness. This scope ceiling does not mean every dimensional combination is stocked; the quotation identifies the available supply.
Is impact testing automatic for S355J0WP?
For S355 WP grades, impact verification is specified at ordering. Products below 6 mm do not require impact testing under the standard, and specimen-size rules apply to test values.
Can S355J2WP replace S355J0WP?
The grades differ in impact quality and sulfur limit. A replacement must meet the project’s complete material and testing requirements rather than rely on a similar name.
Is S355J0WP the same as COR-TEN A?
COR-TEN is a trade name, while S355J0WP is an EN grade. A trade-name comparison does not establish automatic equivalence or dual compliance.
Can S355J0WP be bent or welded?
It can be fabricated using procedures appropriate to the material, condition and thickness. Specific forming requirements and any subsequent heat treatment should be included in the material and fabrication specification.
Can ASC supply S355J0WP for export orders?
Yes. ASC is a supplier, exporter and stockist of S355J0WP plates and sheets. We prioritize urgent requirements and can discuss material documents, inspection, suitable packing and the delivery schedule.
