Straight, Curved and Circular Borders
Corten edging separates adjacent landscape finishes and establishes a clear planting boundary. Straight runs, curved borders and rings around planting areas have different layout and joint requirements. A scaled plan helps define lengths, radii and the position of changes in direction.
For a tree ring, identify whether it is a decorative border or a container wall and allow for the existing trunk and future growth. The landscape professional should determine suitable clearances and avoid damage to roots during installation.
Specification and Quotation Checklist
| Detail | What to specify |
|---|---|
| Profile | Straight strips, curves or tree rings; visible height and overall strip height. |
| Dimensions | Thickness, length, curve radius or ring diameter and permitted tolerances. |
| Fixing | Stake arrangement, connection method, joints and corner details. |
| Ground conditions | Soil type, buried depth, adjacent paving and intended level difference. |
| Appearance | Delivery surface, exposed-edge treatment and finish requirements. |
Anchorage and Joint Details
The edging must be held in the intended position by a fixing arrangement suited to the ground and profile. Specify whether stakes, connectors and corner components are required with the steel. Long runs also need a practical plan for joining, alignment and installation access.
A border beside paving should be coordinated with the paving build-up rather than treated as an isolated strip. The installer should check buried services and roots before driving stakes or excavating.
Edging Is Not a Retaining-Wall Design
Low landscape separation is different from retaining a significant change in ground level. Soil loads, surcharge, drainage and anchorage become design issues where the strip is expected to hold back earth. Do not select a retaining wall from an edging thickness alone.
For deeper planting enclosures, compare Corten steel raised garden beds. A dedicated retaining-wall enquiry should include the required retained height and engineering details.
Exposed Edges and Weathering
Specify the exposed edge and corner finish for the location, particularly beside pedestrian routes or maintenance areas. Natural weathering changes over time and can vary where soil or mulch keeps part of the strip wet. Drainage and exposure should be considered when deciding how much material is buried.
Run-off may mark adjoining hard landscaping. Confirm the delivery surface and any additional treatment rather than assuming a uniform pre-weathered colour or a stain-free finish.
Material and Supply Confirmation
Specify the required weathering-steel grade and delivery condition. Chemical composition and mechanical properties follow the selected base-material specification; there is no universal technical table for every fabricated configuration. Any certificate, traceability or inspection requirement should be included in the enquiry.
ASC is a supplier, exporter and stockist welcoming international enquiries. Send the quantity, drawings, required finish and destination. Current availability, packing and lead time are confirmed in the offer, together with exactly which components and processing are included.
Technical and Safety References

International Project Enquiries
ASC welcomes project enquiries from the USA, UK, Europe, Canada, Brazil and other international destinations. Include the delivery location and required date so packing, availability and logistics can be addressed in the quotation.
Corten Steel Garden Edging and Tree Rings FAQs
Can edging be curved?
Send the desired radius or a scaled layout. Forming and joining requirements depend on thickness and geometry and are confirmed for the order.
Are stakes included?
Only if specified in the offer. List stakes, connectors and corner pieces separately so the complete installation scope is clear.
Can edging retain a raised lawn?
A level difference may introduce soil loads requiring design review. Do not assume decorative edging is a load-rated retaining system.
How much should be buried?
The installation design should determine buried depth and anchorage for the profile, ground and purpose; there is no universal value for every border.
Can tree rings restrict growth?
The layout should allow appropriate trunk and root space. Have the landscape professional assess the location and installation method around existing trees.
Will the edges be sharp?
Specify the required edge treatment. Public access and maintenance conditions should be considered when approving the profile and corner details.
Can I order individual lengths?
Provide the length schedule and quantity. Availability, cutting, joints and packing are confirmed in the quotation.
What dimensions are needed?
State overall and visible height, thickness, lengths, curves or ring diameter, quantity and installation conditions.
