S355J0WP Tubes in Exposed Fabricated Assemblies
Architectural steelwork often combines flat faces with tubular supports, frames or connecting members. S355J0WP pipes and tubes serve the tubular part of a fabrication where this particular material grade is specified.
Round profiles offer a different visual form from plate or sheet and allow connections around a curved surface. The assembly still needs compatible material selection, suitable joints and attention to weathering run-off. Using a similar-looking steel alone does not reproduce the specified WP material.
S355J0WP Material Grade and Chemical Identity
S355J0WP is material number 1.8945 under EN 10025-5:2019. The standard distinguishes the S355 W and WP classes principally by their carbon and phosphorus contents. P identifies the higher-phosphorus class; it is a material distinction, not a tube construction method.
S355J0W and S355J0WP therefore have different chemical requirements even though both are weathering materials with J0 quality. The complete grade name matters for components that must match a specified material schedule.
S355J0WP Pipe Supplier and Exporter from India
ASC supplies S355J0WP pipes and tubes for project fabrication and distribution. Our international enquiry service supports buyers in the UK, Europe and USA, with product-specific offers covering dimensions, quantities, packing and requested documentation.
We specialize in fast delivery and prioritize urgent export requirements. The schedule is confirmed for the material, order size and destination. Packing can use bundles or wooden boxes suited to the tube lengths and handling needs.
Mill test certificates and additional inspection can be requested, with the document and inspection scope agreed for the order.

The phosphorus range helps distinguish WP material from the W grade family. Carbon, copper, chromium and the other controlled elements contribute to the overall material specification.
The reference below concerns the steel used as parent material. Traceable heat records identify the actual analysis associated with the supplied material.
| Element | Limit |
|---|---|
| Carbon, C | ≤ 0.12 |
| Silicon, Si | ≤ 0.75 |
| Manganese, Mn | ≤ 1.00 |
| Phosphorus, P | 0.06–0.15 |
| Sulfur, S | ≤ 0.035 |
| Chromium, Cr | 0.30–1.25 |
| Copper, Cu | 0.25–0.55 |
| Nickel, Ni | ≤ 0.65 |
These selected limits describe the parent steel, not a completed-tube or weld-metal analysis. Full composition and deoxidation provisions apply; heat-analysis limits are separate from product-analysis tolerances.

Material Grade and Finished-Tube Specification
EN 10025-5 covers hot-rolled flat and long products. A tube made using S355J0WP material also requires an agreed finished-product specification covering construction, dimensions, tolerances and testing.
Cold-formed welded structural hollow sections have their own product standards, including EN 10219-3 for high-strength and weather-resistant steels. Compliance with a hollow-section standard is established for the actual product; the S355J0WP name is not automatic EN 10219 or pressure-pipe certification.
S355J0WP Pipe and Tube Dimensions
For round products, outside diameter, wall thickness and length define the tube geometry. The end condition and straightness affect fit during fabrication, while the wall dimension and its tolerance form part of the structural section requirement.
ASC quotes metric or inch dimensions, required lengths and end conditions to the project schedule. The offered dimensional combinations depend on the specified product and construction, rather than a thickness range taken from a flat-steel catalogue.
Mechanical Properties and J0 Impact Verification
Yield strength, tensile strength and elongation describe tested material under defined conditions. For a tube, the required properties and test basis belong with its finished-product specification and delivery condition. A hot-rolled sheet result is not automatically a final tube result.
J0 identifies the 0°C impact quality of the parent material. Under EN 10025-5:2019, verification of impact properties for S355 class WP is included only when specified with the order. The grade name alone does not demonstrate that an impact test was carried out, and the test temperature is not an operating-temperature limit.
Architectural Metalwork, Frames and Weathering Finish
Potential applications include specified supports for weathering sheetwork, exposed tubular frames and landscape metalwork assemblies. These are project-designed components: the material choice, tube section and connections are selected together.
An unpainted finish relies on suitable atmospheric exposure and periods of drying. Retained water, debris and substantial chloride exposure require attention. Drainage paths should also keep early rust-coloured run-off away from paving and other sensitive finishes.
S355J0WP Pipe and Tube FAQs
What does WP mean in S355J0WP?
WP identifies the higher-phosphorus weathering class within the S355 material family. Its carbon and phosphorus provisions differ from S355J0W, so the P suffix should be retained in the specified grade.
Where are S355J0WP tubes used?
They can be specified for exposed tubular frames, supports associated with weathering sheetwork and landscape metalwork assemblies. The design determines the appropriate material, section and connections for the component.
Is J0 impact testing automatic for WP material?
No. EN 10025-5:2019 makes impact verification for S355 WP material an order-specified option. J0 identifies the 0°C material impact quality; reported results need the required verification and test conditions.
Which elements distinguish S355J0WP chemistry?
S355J0WP has a defined phosphorus range, with controlled copper and chromium contributing to its weathering-material chemistry. Its carbon and phosphorus provisions differ from S355J0W, while traceable heat records identify the actual composition of the parent steel.
Does S355J0WP define the tube diameter or wall thickness?
No. The material grade does not define a finished-tube size range. Round products are quoted by outside diameter, wall thickness and length, with the applicable construction and dimensional requirements.
Can S355J0WP and S355J0W be substituted for each other?
Their chemical specifications differ. An alternative must be accepted against the full project requirement, including the material grade and finished-tube properties, rather than chosen solely for a similar weathered appearance.
Can the tubular assembly be left unpainted?
Suitable exposure and detailing can allow an unpainted weathering finish. Water retention, significant salt exposure and staining of adjacent surfaces need to be considered for the actual installation.
Does ASC support export packing and inspection requests?
Yes. Bundles or wooden boxes can be arranged to suit the tubes, and mill documentation or additional inspection can be requested. The agreed packing, inspection and destination are reflected in the quotation and delivery schedule.
