A Corten bin can use a weathering-steel exterior with a separate liner or internal container. Specify whether the requirement is for general litter, a defined recycling stream or another purpose. The opening and internal arrangement should help users deposit the intended waste without making servicing difficult.
A decorative exterior is not a hazardous-waste container, fire-safe receptacle or ash bin unless designed and verified for that use. Do not place hot material or specialist waste in a general-purpose litter bin. Labels and separate compartments should be agreed for a recycling installation.

Overall outside dimensions do not directly establish usable capacity. Allow for the liner, access mechanism and any internal dividers. Identify whether liners and bags are supplied or selected by the facility operator.
Emptying, Cleaning and Replacement Parts
The servicing arrangement should allow the operator to remove waste without awkward lifting or contact with unfinished edges. Confirm the liner size, door opening and handling method with the cleaning team. A large decorative shell may be inconvenient if its contents cannot be removed safely.
Waste residue and cleaning liquids can create conditions different from outdoor atmospheric exposure. The internal container and drainage should therefore be specified separately from the outer patina. Agree cleaning guidance and access to hinges, locks and liners so routine maintenance does not require dismantling the entire bin.
Public-Space Positioning and Fixing
Place bins where they can be used and serviced without narrowing essential circulation routes. Consider the relationship to seats, entrances and collection access. An anchored unit and a movable unit have different stability and servicing needs.
Review rain entry, drainage and run-off onto adjacent paving. Weathering steel is not rust-free, and a fixed natural colour cannot be guaranteed. The general weathering-steel guidance supports sound drainage principles but does not establish a finished bin’s performance.
