Bicycle Support and Locking Access
Choose a rack around how users will support and lock their bicycles. Decorative cut-outs or unusual shapes may restrict access for a lock or contact the bicycle at an unsuitable point. Review the frame support and the intended locking arrangement before approving the design.
The FHWA bicycle parking guidance discusses practical rack selection, including frame support. The project should also consider the bicycles expected at the site rather than assuming one shape works equally well for every frame, wheel size or cargo configuration.
Cycle-Stand Enquiry Details
| Requirement | What to specify |
|---|---|
| Parking demand | Number of bicycle spaces and expected bicycle types. |
| Rack geometry | Overall dimensions, frame-contact areas, locking points and drawing revision. |
| Layout | Spacing between stands, aisle and approach space, nearby walls and pedestrian routes. |
| Fixing | Surface or embedded mounting, substrate, anchor responsibility and removal resistance. |
| Material and finish | Weathering grade, contact-edge treatment, surface condition and quantity. |
The number of stands is not always equal to the number of usable parking spaces. Show the complete layout so both sides, access restrictions and adjacent objects can be considered.
Security and Site Planning
A secure installation depends on more than the steel body. The rack should provide useful locking access and be fixed to an appropriate substrate. The design and fixings need to be assessed for the project; no theft-proof performance is implied by the use of Corten steel.
Locate the parking area where users can find it and manoeuvre without obstructing doors, circulation routes or other facilities. Site visibility, lighting and management are separate considerations from the rack supply. Follow the requirements of the relevant transport or planning authority where applicable.
Finish and Bicycle Contact
Edges, welds and openings should be detailed to avoid unnecessarily damaging bicycles or creating snag points. Identify any protective contact elements in the drawing and confirm their material and replacement requirements in the offer.
Natural patina can vary and may transfer marks under contact or in wet conditions. Consider whether the proposed surface is appropriate for the intended bicycle-contact areas. Drainage and run-off should also be reviewed where racks stand on finished paving.
Quotation and Installation Scope
Send the rack drawing, quantity, layout and destination, together with the material and finish requirements. Specify any design, test or inspection evidence required by the client. Material chemistry and strength are determined by the actual steel grade, not by the product name.
Confirm whether the offer includes anchors, templates, protective contact pieces and installation. Coordinate cycle stands with benches or litter bins without sacrificing functional spacing. Lead time and packing are confirmed for the agreed supply.
International Project Enquiries
ASC welcomes project enquiries from the USA, UK, Europe, Canada, Brazil and other international destinations. Include the delivery location and required date so packing, availability and logistics can be addressed in the quotation.
Corten Steel Bike Racks FAQs
How many bicycles can use one rack?
It depends on the rack shape, layout and access. A usable-space plan should identify how each bicycle is supported and locked.
Is a decorative steel stand automatically secure?
No. Locking access, anchorage, design and site conditions all matter. No theft-proof claim is assumed.
Can the stand accommodate different bicycle types?
Specify the expected bicycle range. Frame geometry, wheel size and cargo or adapted bicycles may need additional space or a different arrangement.
Are anchors included?
Only if specified and confirmed. The substrate and fixing design should be identified before the installation is approved.
Will the weathered surface mark a bicycle?
Contact behaviour depends on the finish and conditions. Specify suitable contact details and review them for the intended use.
Does rack spacing follow a universal dimension?
No single dimension is assumed here. Use the applicable project or authority requirements and account for access, bicycle types and surrounding objects.
What should I send for a price?
Send the drawing, quantity, required parking capacity, layout, fixing details, finish, destination and any client inspection requirements.
