The tubing can be strengthened by placing a reinforcing ring between both ends. Additionally, it can be used in engines, transmissions, gearboxes, and brake pulleys. It is also used to drive fans in addition to pumps and extruders.
Most often, it is made of cast steel, but nowadays, it is made of aluminium and steel, which is cheaper. A cable is a very thin metal tube that connects two parts of an automobile’s electrical system. In addition to connecting to the car’s battery, this cable also connects to the vehicle’s electrical system.
Driveshaft tubing is used in the automobile industry. Various parts of an automobile are powered by steel and aluminum. Stainless steel and aluminum alloys are usually used as thin steels.
This type of cable is used in all electrical systems except the transmission. A power steering cable has two parts: an outer coating and an inner core that are exposed to elements such as rain and sand.
When you need a lightweight, high torque driveshaft with a nice polished finish, consider Action Machine aluminum driveshafts. Street rods, show cars, race cars, and OEM replacements benefit from aluminum driveshafts from Action Machine. Other driveline shops may use thinner tubes for aluminum driveshafts, but our volume purchasing allows us to use .125″ wall tubes for the same price as the thinner tubes.
Precision construction is essential for aluminum driveshafts. Poor quality components, tubing that is out of tolerance, and poorly balanced driveshafts can all cause major vibration issues, or worse – a complete failure. As part of our commitment to quality, Action Machine completed Spicer’s intensive dynamic reverse torsion fatigue testing requirements. We test our aluminum driveshafts for torsional load strength, weld penetration and quality, and overall manufacturing quality. As you can see from some of our competitors, aluminum driveshafts can be more expensive. It is important to note, however, that a higher price does not necessarily mean a better shaft. Quality cannot be compared with ours. Testing has been done to prove it.
A 6061-T6 DOM aluminum tube with a wall of .125″ provides the best aluminum quality, torsional strength, long term durability, and clean finish for our aluminum driveshafts. In order to attain the best fit and performance, all yokes are forged from 6061-T6 aluminum and individually machined. We never use cast aluminum. Aluminum shafts are available in diameters of 3″, 3.5″, 4″, 4.5″ and 5″.
Our aluminum 4 to 5″ diameter shafts can replace your OEM pickup truck driveshaft. The lighter weight allows the aluminum shaft to cover the same distance as a steel two piece shaft while being longer. In some trucks, one piece aluminum shafts eliminate vibration and wear of center bearings.
2. Steel Driveshafts
Drive shafts built to meet your specific needs are built to last. Depending on the driving conditions and vehicle performance, you can vary tubing material and thickness, U Joint type, and component selection. Special computer software checks the shaft design, dimensions, and critical speeds of driveshafts. If something we know won’t work, we’ll tell you “No” before we sell it to you.
Before any shafts are balanced, the tube is straightened to tolerances less than half of OEM specifications. A straighter tube minimizes drive shaft “whip” at higher RPMs and allows the driveshaft to spin closer to its exact centerline. The shaft can be balanced easily with straight tubes. Our shafts are high-speed balanced on the latest driveline manufacturing equipment with balance weight allowances far below OEM specifications.
Because our steel driveshafts are made from driveline quality tubing, they are stronger and straighter from the start. Steel is our most popular material due to its versatility, strength, and affordability.
Our high strength steel driveshafts can be custom designed for
- Drive shaft replacement or repair.
- Circle track cars, street rods, and performance cars.
- For box / flatbed trucks, motor homes, and vans, we offer light and medium duty trucks.
- Applications for heavy duty trucks and semi-diesel tractors.
- For trucks, vans, and motor homes, multiple piece driveshafts are available.
- 4 x 4 trucks.
